United Airlines Flight 2092 from Chicago’s O’Hare Airport (ORD) to New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) was diverted to Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) on Saturday morning, April 18, due to a bomb threat.

United Planes at ORDA spokesperson for United confirmed to People that Flight 2092 was diverted “to address a potential security concern” and that “passengers evacuated safely via slides.”

The Boeing 737 MAX 8 had 159 passengers and six crew members on board, and there were no reports of injuries.

Audio from the flight, shared on LiveATC.net—a site that broadcasts communications between pilots and air traffic control—captures a male crew member reporting a problem on board. He mentions hearing a consistent beeping sound.

The crew member goes on to say they would need to handle the situation as a possible bomb threat. He explains that they plan to divert the flight so the issue can be addressed safely, describing the noise as a steady, once-per-second beep.

According to FlightAware.com, the plane took off from ORD at 9:54 a.m. and landed in PIT at 12:03 p.m.

The Allegheny County Police Department (ACPD) said its EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) team and K9 units conducted a sweep of the aircraft, passengers, and luggage with negative results.

The passengers were placed on another 737 plane (not a MAX) and took off at 4:24 p.m., landing in LGA at 5:45 p.m., 6 hours and 32 minutes late.

Many people are on edge because of the war in Iran, especially in law enforcement. In fact, Solace Global Intelligence Briefing recently issued an alert for the United States stating: “Recent FBI reporting likely indicates that the Iranian threat to the U.S. homeland remains elevated but targeted, despite alleged attempts by the White House to downplay the risk.”
