    Euros from the ATM

The first thing I did after collecting my luggage at baggage claim was hit the ATM to get some crisp Euros. I do this every time I land in a new country. TIP: Stay away from the currency exchange booths because they will rip you off. However, if you are traveling with a bunch of people and you all want to exchange cash, pool your money so you won't all have to pay the change fee.

At press time 1 EUR = $1.41 USD. If you use Bank of America look for BNP Paribas in France. They are supposed to waive the $5 foreign ATM fee. If they charge you, as they did me, call Bank of America's 800 number when you return home to get it waived. For current exchange rates log on to XE.com or Oanda.com.
